Somewhat.
They live on the west coast. For a few years we weren't getting along and they would do things like call me at 11:30 pm to wish me happy birthday because that's what was "convenient for them."

When we did get along better, they'd send a card with a check for $100.

I don't have a relationship with my parents, so no. But my inlaws do. They live across the country and have sent everything from a cake from a bakery in the city I grew up in to flowers, to gifts, etc.

I get a happy birthday text. I am not into birthdays and do not want cards or gifts so a text is perfect for me. If they forget, I wouldn’t even care.

Yes. Phone call in the am, flowers from my dad, cards and presents, dinner together. If I am having a party, they come. Ive celebrated my birthday without them 3 times. 21, when i was studying abroad and when dh and i were first in love and went on tropical vacation that week. When i was younger i resented that they were present and when i had parties at my first apartment mom came and brought food and commented if i was talking too loud or my outfit. As i got older (40 now) i really appreciate it and its lovely that they know to my friends and neighbors and are very good conversationalists and its never boring with them. (And they bring good champagne

How do they acknowledge it?
