In the spring, we went to one drive by party. It wasn't very much fun. A few kids got out of their cars and awkwardly stood around, afraid to get too close to anyone but not knowing how to play/interact.

All other birthday parties have been getting online to play video games together. Sort of like what they do all the time.

Some good options here. Our 6 year olds party was cancelled last March due to Covid, she’s not mature enough to be okay also cancelling a 7th so I’ve got to come up with something safe.

I think likely a zoom party with drop off kits (craft supplies, cupcake to decorate) so she can have something. Unfortunately it feels like a hell of a lot more work than a regular party and I’m tapped out between working long hours and managing virtual schooling plus elder care issues with our parents.

Most gave up the pandemic birthday parties this fall. I was surprised but my 5 yr old was fine without having a party.

How does a virtual mygym party work, since the whole point is playing on the equipment?

In the fall, outside smaller parties with the kids invited all coming from her “pod” at school. Kids wore masks, parents wore masks, etc. We felt it was acceptable because she is with these children every day during the week.

I would also be fine with an inside party with the kids from her pod, if the number of parents was limited.

For us, it is all about the pod.

I would not send my child to an indoor party right now.

My ES child who is still doing virtual school has been to a couple drive by parties (LAME) and a playground party which was fun. The playground party didn't have food and the kids were masked the whole time. They were given a cupcake and water bottle in their goody bag which was a nice touch.

My preschooler is in in-person school and has been to several playground parties with her preschool friends (who she's seeing in person anyway).

None aside from zoom parties.

We’re in Los Angeles and our numbers are very high. Even our playgrounds are closed and gated.

My 4yo got invited to one outdoor party over the summer with a couple of other kids. That’s the only one.

5YO has been invited to mostly birthday parades and one socially distancing dance party in the birthday child’s driveway. Also invited to a Zoom party where a Princess read a story to the group.

11YO has been invited to birthday parades and Zoom parties. His favorite was a party where the guest played Among Us while chatting on the “Houseparty” app. This is what he wants to do to celebrate his birthday next month.

I’m considering outdoor laser tag soon. I also hosted: 3 friends at pool over the summer, 4 friends in the backyard & masked in early December

I have 3 kids and all 3 have birthdays coming up in the next 2 months. Looking for ideas.

4. Petting zoo in backyard
5. Indoor party with 2 friends

7. Online bingo with treats dropped off socially distanced

What parties have your kids been invited to?

Not necessarily asking if you attended. Just trying to gather some ideas.

I am considering laser tag, paintball or top golf for my older child and maybe animals for my youngest.
