The clinic we used guaranteed two high quality blasts per frozen lot. We went that route because we only wanted one child and hoped we wouldn't have leftovers. We got two blasts from a lot of eight eggs. We did not do genetic testing. Our first transfer ended in an early miscarriage and our second seems to have been successful (currently 17 weeks and chromosomally normal). I think it depends on whether you want to have extras for a sibling down the road, assuming you have no male factor. We were willing to gamble on one lot of frozen and then go back and do another lot, if needed. I think the cost of both lots would not have been much more than a full cycle of fresh.

We got a lot of 7 eggs. 6 fertilized and we got only 2 day 5 embryos. I asked my RE if this was typical and she said they usually expect 3 embryos, 4 would be very good. I was shocked when the first FET failed. I did ERA which showed I needed progesterone and the second FET worked. It was our final shot.
If you want more embryos for subsequent children the number of day 5/6 blasts may not be as many as you would get with a fresh donor.

Thanks. Is the ERA an extra cost? I don't see it in SGF's financial guide.

Yes, the ERA is a separate cost. I don’t remember how exactly much but it was less than the FET.

Anecdotally, do you all know someone who didn't have a live birth using frozen DE...after several attempts?

We're considering frozen vs fresh at SGF. Their stats for frozen DE is 41% (no PGT-A) - 45% (with PGT-A). Their stats for fresh DE is 59%. This seems to be a considerable difference. Do you know if that's pretty similar to other centers?

SGF's fresh egg donor bank is shockingly low; they said it was due to Covid. So we're considering Donor Egg Bank USA. But we're just not sure if frozen is the way to go.
