How old is he, pp?

What exactly are his shit choices? Is he flunking out of school? Messing with drugs and alcohol? Getting someone pregnant?

Really, you need to chill. See a therapist or something, maybe, get a prescription for anti-anxiety meds. If you kid is just 'lazy' and 'disrespectful', however you define these terms, you don't need Lord's help to survive 'his BS".
Unless your expectations for your child were to get into Harvard and it's not happening because he's playing Minecraft other than studying calculus, I don't see how this situation is oh-so-bleak.

It’s bleak, but bless you for thinking it’s my Harvard level expectations.

How dare he have issues with a smart, thoughtful mom like you.

Did you forget to take your anxiety meds? Stop everything and go take your med or this may become a psychotic episode.

NP. What is wrong with you? Did you not see that the poster with 3 teens and OP are different?

I recommend a book that DCUM recommended to me, "Yes, your teen is crazy!" that book was my Bible for two years. I read it and then went back with a highlighter. I kept it by my bedside and would crack it open to the highlighted parts.

The best thing about it is it was a fun read, unlike any other parenting book I've read before or after.

NP. Thanks for this recommendation- just ordered it!

18 and I do not see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully things get better in 2021.

Wishing you all the best!!

Same to you! We will get through this, eventually it’s their life and choices, so we just have to hang on until then.

You are not responsible. As parents, we the best that we know how. You can't judge yourself by the outcome, only by what you put into raising your child. I hope things get better quickly for you.

Agree that it both gets better and gets worse before it gets better. It’s developmentally necessary that they act like they can’t stand you. Just keep being steady, loving and there for them.

I had the sweetest kid who was loving, funny and a joy to be around. He cared about school and grades, sports, music and other things. He has turned into an obnoxious 14 yo HS who is lazy, rude, disrespectful, ungrateful and doesn’t care about his parents or brother or anything else. He just want to spend time playing Minecraft and chatting with his friend on discord and does nothing to help out at home.
We are immigrants and have worked so hard to provide for them. I feel so down about what he has become and can’t stop thinking that I am responsible for making him this way. He was such a bright kid but his future seems so bleak now. It just makes me so sad. I just hope that they turn around before it becomes too late.
