Depends on the situation. DH and I were long-distance friends for a couple of years before we started dating.

He flew out to visit me and we had sex the first night he was there. We’ve been married for 6.5 years.

But in situations where I didn’t know the guy before the first date, no — I wouldn’t sleep with him that night.

During my dating years I really appreciated the guys who left it up to me to make the move. I never responded well to pressure which I found to be a real turnoff. My now DH and I had been good friends for a couple of years and our first date was at a party at his house. After everyone had left and while helping him clean up the kitchen I asked what he had in the refrigerator for breakfast. The look on his face was priceless.

Aren't you the stud (or so you think).

During the date, start creating a reason to go back to your place. For example, talk about a trip you went on, and you have some cool souvenir or photos back at your place. Or some kind of special drink/food that is hard to get but you have some.

This way, she has an excuse to come back and it's not just for sex. Now, if that happens once there, that's fine, but it gives her a reason to go back and still seem like a "good girl".

In my day, I even managed to pull this off when the Nintendo Wii was new and I had one before anyone else had seen it. Amazing what a game of virtual tennis can lead to!

Don't ask on the first date. Just show the tiniest bit of giving a shit about her as a person rather than another notch on your bedpost. Unless you met by BOTH advertising that you're just looking to hook up or for FWB.

Second date feels like the safest overall option.

I think that is a standard question most women get asked after a good first date and wouldn't be off putting. Those who feel comfortable will accept, and those who don't will decline. However if you explicitly want to be perceived as a "gentleman" you may want to wait until the second date.

Not sure if age matters for this and know it varies by person, but is it crazy to ask a girl back to my place after the first date if it’s going well? Feels risky, but I don’t personally have any hang ups around it. And I’m definitely someone that really values chemistry in the bedroom.
