Sending someone to an unnecessary MRI doesn't sound like a more medicalized approach. It sounds like an excuse to bill your insurance.

It was my first pregnancy, I was with a big practice, and one of the doctors called me a week after my 20 wk ultrasound - on a friday before a holiday -- to tell me there was an irregularity, without providing any helpful info. I demanded to speak to the head of the practice, and he was very cavalier, saying that it sounded like I knew more than he did about the issue. I switched to a small practice with two women OBs, and I loved them. In my first appointment, the doctor discussed the issue I faced with intelligence and with kindness. Best decision I ever made.
