Important question. Mull over the reasons and correct yourself before making the transition. As you know from your own job, these things are two sided.
in a similar boat. even with the best au pairs, they eventually flake out. ours just announced she is leaving. we are a front line family and this really leaves us in a lurch. she initiated an extension and is doing this because she wants a vacation earlier than what we could make happen.
A live-in nanny could want 2-4 consecutive weeks off, if you hire someone on a green card who wants to gisit their country of origin. Can you handle that, if you have lead time?
A live-in can also work more than 45 hours, but she’s going to want to be paid more too.
Call Susan at NannyPoppinz. She’ll help you find someone who won’t flake.

Plenty of us? It’s safer.
Wearing a mask, washing hands, and social distancing also keeps you safe.
I’m asthmatic with about 75% lung capacity. I can wear a mask for up to 10 minutes, but it’s a struggle. I’ll take living in, thanks.
You should not even be a nanny with only 75% lung capacity as you cannot run after a child.
I can run after kids and swim with them. Breathing through a mask is very different.
