I'm guessing the private and home-school kids hear soon though given those dates.

I would have thought you would have heard at least a couple weeks ago if you have to appeal by Jan 7. That doesn't give you any time to prepare anything for the appeal. Not sure what the point of the appeal is then.

The Equity report did call out appeals as part of the problem and the WISC. I wouldn't be surprised to find that FCPS is deliberately shortening the appeals window in order to decrease the use of the WISC.

I agree that is probably why they are doing it that way. So dumb. The WISC would be more likely to identify kids who really need the program. And it is available to low income families for free.

Ooooh, so regular kids (2nd graders) won't find out until the spring?

That's not very much time for appeals. Like a week to see if we can find someone to do an in person assessment? WTH?

This page:

says fall screening appeals are due Jan.19?

That might be for people wanting to move from Private to Public. There is a different timeline for those decisions so parents have an idea of what class their kids might be in before signing a contract for Private School.

The applications for second graders in FCPS were accepted on December 1 this year, no decisions have been made for those kids so there is nothing to appeal.

The appeals are due Jan 7th, which seems to indicate that acceptance letters would be sent soon for the 2nd grad decisions. Is that right? Sorry, I'm new to this.
