The redistricting is something that has been talked about for years but I am unsure of when it is to be implemented. There is a high FARMs rate at Rachel Carson. The FARMS kids and local kids don't seem to mingle very much socially. There is a mean girls and mean boys element as is to be expected in that little area but probably true of most elementary schools. And no one calls it Carson.
They just revised the timeline last month. This is the latest info:
Resolved, That the Board of Education approve a revised boundary study timeline for the
Rachel Carson and DuFief Elementary Schools Boundary Study as a result of the adopted
one-year delay of the capital project for DuFief Elementary School, with the study to be conducted
in spring 2022, with Board of Education action scheduled for November 2022

The FARMS kids are[b] the local kids, just like the non-FARMS kids.
No, sorry. There are some FARMS local but they also are bussed in from another area of Gaithersburg.

Before someone comes on with a "Well, actually....." there are a handful of seats for typically developing peers in the special needs pre-K classrooms but those tend to go to the typically developing siblings of the kids getting services.
