From a website

Preserved figs are perfect for serving with hot, buttered homemade buttermilk biscuits or even simple toast, of course, but they're good just to eat as they are, spooned over ice cream, on top of crostini spread with cream cheese, goat cheese or blue cheese, mashed up to use in baked goods and other recipes, or even tossed on a salad.

wow, I never heard of canned figs! Are they good? Is this an ethnic tradition to eat figs at christmas?

I think if I had extras, I would puree them for a cookie filling. You might have to cook them down a little if they are too watery.

Here's a picture of what they look like:

They are green and extraordinarily soft.

We (the adults) eat them soaked in alcohol over ice cream or plain cake.

As a family tradition, we eat canned figs on Christmas morning. This year, I couldn't find any small cans, just one huge industrial size can of figs, so I bought it. But now there will be a ton of leftover, canned figs that I'll need to use in some way within a day or two of opening the can.

I'm searching for recipes that use canned or preserved figs and am coming up with nothing. Any ideas? Any recipes?
