To say most clubs participate in futsal is a bit of a stretch. In the area you can count on one hand the "clubs' that train, play and compete in futsal. Everyone else is just having some indoor soccer fun/training to stay active. The coaches dont have any futsal training but they use their outdoor knowledge to train indoors. Calling it futsal is a stretch, a long stretch.
Again, just because a club says do futsal in a local gym with us over the off season hardly qualifies as saying they participate. Might as well call it indoor soccer.

I heard that the St. James is charging parents $5 a person to watch the games. Is that true? Thanks

When you say this area, do you mean NOVA, or the metro DC area?
PWSI fields futsal teams.
Futsal America
FTP
Puma Elite/FCV
DC Hyper
NPC
I believe my son played a PPA team once that was decent, but from what I understand, that depends on whether you get a grouping of decent kids together to from your own team. I could be wrong on that - it is second hand from a casual acquaintance.
Well, I meant the DC Metro area -- the same general area that we talk about when we talk about DMV soccer. We are in NoVa but we always play a few Maryland teams during the soccer season.
I guess this is just an odd year for futsal, and it happens to be the first year I'm paying attention to it, so I'm just trying to understand how it all fits together as compared to the different soccer leagues we have in the area. Nice to know that most of the DMV soccer clubs also have futsal, in normal years.

It seems like a winter sport for him -- it's basically the soccer version of basketball. With so many touches, and being forced to maneuver in tight spaces, I can see why it can help improve soccer skills during the offseason.
I know that Alexandria has a futsal team (or teams). My son is playing for St. James. I saw they played McLean this weekend - so obviously, McLean has futsal too. I'm curious how many other clubs in the area field futsal teams? It would seem to be a no-brainer (at least, during the regular, non-COVID times) for every soccer club to offer this sport in the winter, but it doesn't seem to have caught on yet.

What other DMV soccer clubs are fielding futsal teams this year?
