I was entirely honest on the questionnaire, to include saying that DD's sense of humor is appropriate for her age. The one kid I know to be profoundly gifted has NO sense of humor. Her sibling, who is merely gifted, has a more adult sense of humor, but I think that's her personality more than anything else. She has always been exceedingly mature.

It’s not about understanding the question. We all understood it just fine. Just like we understand you are an as*.

It is ok to say that your kid is not advanced in all areas on the questionnaire. We said that his humor seemed to be be pretty age appropriate and not all that advanced.

That is seriously the worst question ever. I simply provided an example of a joke my child made up and moved on.

The humor one was hard for us too. I just rated my child the lowest on that one. Honestly, I don’t think they put much weight into the whole questionnaire anyway.

Intelligent kids aren’t funny. Look at Beth Harmon.

Filling out the AAP questionnaire and I am struck by the humor question. I had no idea that humor was connected to being gifted. While I feel like DD excels in all the other areas asked of in the questionnaire, I have to say her sense of humor is ok, nothing to write home about. I certainly don’t know how to quantify that in the form! Found that to be such an interesting question to include.
