I know they already had waitlists for some grades prior to covid and now has very long waitlists. being a parishioner you might have a shot. faith component is very emphasized, which we like.

my kid is applying for kindergarten and my family has been part of the parish for nearly 30 thirty years, i really hope we have a shot. i went through my sacraments there. do you think that will help a bit?

Not sure. It’s a tough application year

I know they're all going to have major similarities being ADW k-8 schools, but any thing other info would be helpful.

Where are you a parishioner? That is likely your only shot for next year. If the answer is nowhere I would cross parochials off your list.

OP. Parishoner at LFS

This is very true. HT is particularly challenging to get into if you aren’t a parishioner even in non-pandemic times.

Not on your list but we chose Saint John the Evangelist in silver spring. At some point next year I’ll need to return to the office at least a couple days a week likely (fed) and they are super close to forest Glen metro which is not one of the ones closing. They are also super welcoming to non-Catholics and non-parishioners if that’s you.

HTS is the most competitive for non-parishoners

DS applied to St Barts this year and apparently they have way more applicants than slots for every grade

The counselor and the staff are incredibly supportive and DD, who initially suffered from anxiety because of the changes to her schedule during the last 8 months, has finally adjusted and looks forward to cyber schooling.
In terms of the type of Catholic education the children receive what I refer to as a “Catholic light” and progressive education, they focus less on tradition and more on social justice and embracing change. This is a major difference between OLV and HT,
Which seems more conservative. As far as diversity we know that OLV has more children from Latin America and Europe (embassy or World Bank families) while HTS children tend to be primarily Caucasian with a few Ethiopians and Europeans or Asians -but not many.

Great info about HTS. Definitely our first choice for DC

OLV feels more old school catholic with a very strict principal while HTS is more progressive. OLV has more diversity and generally seems more welcoming.
