Does investing in golf clubs for a 13 year old boy make sense? He's got feet like a St. Bernard puppy right now, and everyone tells me to expect that he'll grow like 6 inches in the net year. He's been playing with hand me down clubs from a cousin, and I'm wondering if it makes more sense to hold off a year for a set of his own. Or am I overestimating the importance of height.

Height matters a lot. If he's really into it, maybe see if you can find a used set, but if the hand-me-downs are working, I'd hold off on a new set and let him grow some more.

As a golfer, I don’t love gadgets. I don’t even use a rangefinder. Things I would like:

-Clubs. Wedges aren’t too expensive, and I have several putters.

-Having my old clubs regripped.

- Gloves. I go through a lot of them. I only use Footjoy StaSof

- Balls. But I don’t play with three piece balls, and actually prefer quality two piece balls.

- Range gift cards / tokens.

- Golf apparel, including shoes.

Clubs are still my favorite, though, especially hybrids. They can be handed down to others and also used for friends to play with me.

He's the oldest, our kids range from 6 - 13, so something he could do with younger siblings would actually be good, unless it would be harmful to his playing.

We're really lucky that we have a family member who is very into golf, and wants to teach him, so we aren't doing lessons at this point.

My son too. I am getting him a caddy for his golf bag so he can walk the course more easily.

My young teenager has gotten really into golf this year. A family member is teaching him how to play.

I'd like to fill his stocking with small golf related gifts, and maybe get a couple slightly bigger things. Suggestions?
