Short answer - yep.

For the two people I know that engage in this type of activity (not carjacking but guns and drugs), they do it for the “extras” - fancy cars, expensive jewelry, stuff like that. They’re not desperate to feed their families.

Carjackings up over 100%! And the problem is so bad in DC that even the fbi now has to get involved apparently.

Good thing DC has a plan to reduce sentences for criminals who committed violent crimes. Criminals now have free rein over DC because of ridiculously light sentencing due to so called progressive reform in the system. The progress that'll be made at this rate is getting people to flee the city as more and more businesses keep going under and crime is exploding out of control.
