FWIW if you want a kit, the ender 3 is reasonably priced and DH and I did not have trouble assembling it. Out of the box it is a decent product and you can upgrade parts as you decide.

My son is really interested in design and I want to get him a 3D printer for the holidays. Curious if anyone has experiences with these or any suggestions.
