It doesn't matter, it's a choice that the parents want. If there's demand, a business has no incentive to change.
I understand what you’re saying but imagine this:
If a restaurant has an out-of-this-world great tasting dish that no other restaurant comes close to offering but the wait staff is incredibly rude. People would still go there since that food is so incredibly tasty. But if the wait staff was very professional and treated customer like human beings, that restaurant would be overcrowded with people waiting in line.
Hence, my point is that if BSC has coaches that are non-abusive, professional and with a track record of winning along with BSC’s reputation in this area, there would be thousands of kids from all over DMV showing up to BSC’s try-outs every year.
Nah. Location is a biggie for many.

. I think there is a happy medium we have somehow missed.

That described my youth travel girl's soccer coach (played for him from 4th grade-Junior year HS). We were undefeated for nearly 4 years. 5 State Championships won, Eastern Regionals, every WAGs/every year, every tournament.
This was very common in the way coaches talked to players in the 70s/80s, even girls.

sports are supposed to be extra curricular activities whose purpose is to round out the academic/college experience. Take words to coach said, and put them into the mouths of an editor at a student news paper, a work study boss, a leader on an outdoor trip and that person would be fired in a heart beat- why should sports be different?

These are serious allegations. It sounds like up until now the university has ignored these allegations. Maybe by going public these former students/athletes will force the university to take a hard look at themselves and their women's soccer program/coaching staff.
