You haveto buy Animal crossingn horizons. Most popular game of 2020 and so much fun.

We have a lot of games, but from most played to least played for us it is:

Minecraft
Zelda
Mario Odyssey
Luigi's Mansion
Mario Kart

My kids never really got into Animal crossing, but be warned that you can only have one main player per Nintendo Switch console system (not game, per system). Everyone else plays on that person's island and can't do as much. If the kids had played this game more, that would have caused real problems for us.

My favorites are Ring Fit Adventure and Super Mario Party. My DH's is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. My DD11 loves Super Mario Maker,AC:NH, and Snipperclips. My DS9 loves Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and my DD7 loves Just Dance, Mario Kart, and Super Mario Party.

Haha! I’m glad I’m not the only one! DD is only 4, so she’s young for video games. DH has been having a lot of fun playing Zelda — especially the older versions you can download. It was his favorite game as a kid.

As for me, I really love all things Mario. The Mario Kart version for Switch is really cool. Then for my birthday, DH got me this pack of 3 older Mario games. I was an N64 kid, so playing Mario 64 has been awesome. I finally have the chance to beat that game, lol!

While we understand that excessive screen time isn’t great, we’re really not that concerned about video games. I think between the two of us, we must have literally thousands of hours of video game playing under our belts, and I think we turned out just fine. Not too concerned about getting DD a video game system when she gets older.

We just got a Switch for our family and we all (adults and kids) are enjoying Pikmin 3, which is a fun, puzzle-solving exploration game. We are also having a lot of fun playing Heave Ho all together, which is a ridiculous (and cheap - only $10) game where you have to try to work together (or against each other) to swing your way through courses.

We all enjoy Animal Crossing, BUT... there is a caveat. If your kids tend to lead toward the obsessive, it can really take over. We had to cut my 9yo off because she was setting alarms to make sure she could get back to the game at a certain time to meet different characters. She was upset when we finally got to leave the house for a weekend trip because she wouldn't be able to log in and check on things in the game. But it is a fun game.
