There definitely is but since my mom is a bit of a hoarder I can't find what I want under all the other things that have accumulated on top of them. Going to be a pita to clean out when they pass and probably still won't be able to locate the items we want to keep in the middle of that mess. She sometimes finds things and sends texts asking if I want them and if I say no she keeps them there instead of tossing them...then finds them again a few years later and the whole thing repeats.

I'm 40 and had childhood stuff there until this year. My dad died in the spring and my mom cleaned out the house to sell it, so there was finally a compelling reason to get the stuff out of there. I've lived several states away from them since college and most trips were done by plane, so there wasn't much ability to bring stuff back here before now. She shipped me some stuff and drove down here for a visit this summer, so now I've got to find room for it in my basement.

Oh course. My second bedroom (I moved to a new one in high school) is a time capsule from elementary - middle school. My mother refuses to throw any of that crap out. Believe me I tried. I gave up after awhile.

Some of my childhood books and toys are there, but my kids use them when they visit so I think of them more as belonging to my parents. It would be hard to visit without at least a few toys.

I'm 40, and yes, I still have stuff in my mom's house.

3-4 boxes of childhood stuff -- art and schoolwork from elementary school, a couple very sentimental toys, some awards and paraphernalia from middle school and high school sports and activities. It's the kind of stuff I'd never display but I don't feel like I can get rid of.

The reason it's still at my mom's is because (1) we live in a tiny apartment and have very little storage -- I planned to get the boxes and store them a few years ago, but then we had a kid and our space disappeared. Also (2) my mom has a big house.

My mom hates that the boxes are there and it's become a point of contention. I'm going to have to figure something out soon because she has threatened to toss them. I think I'm getting a reprieve due to Covid, but as soon as it's over and people can travel again, I know she will start hounding me again. Truthfully, part of my reluctance is that my feelings are so hurt by how insistent she is that she doesn't want them. She has always been like this. She repainted my childhood bedroom and moved in office furniture the day after I moved out. Like I went back to pick up a box fan I'd left behind the next day, and the walls were already a different color and there was new furniture in there. I don't even know what happened to my bedroom furniture -- she probably took it to the dump.

No idea. My mom said she got rid of everything (and me). I couldn't take it as we have a 900 square foot house. I would have like pictures.

47. Yes. Dad is a pack-rat. Got a copy of my 'birth card' from the hospital via text last week. Also graduation stuff, report cards, all manner of things.

I have the things that I only use when I am there, like my skis and outerwear. Not like old stuff that I never got rid of. And I have duplicate baby things like high chair, pack and play, bibs, etc. It is too far to drive and flying with little kids is such a pain, I can't imagine having to tote all the baby stuff too.

Inspired by the "My house is not your storage facility" thread...

I lived in an apartment in college about an hour drive from my parents house. I moved back to their house briefly between senior year/getting married (at age 23) and once my husband and I were married (and living together) I moved all my stuff out. I haven't kept a single item at my parents house since--and I'm now 45 years old.

Do you still have "stuff" at your parents house? How old are you? Why can't you fit it in your own home?
