In Maryland over the Summer they had police come to the fields and chase off a Summer camp and teams practicing in violation of the Montgo county guidelines. Not sure if that would happen in VA, but it could.

Tell them the rule. Leave it at that.

Ha. Ask the soccerplex parents how it's going. There is plenty of enforcement going on up there - has has been for a while. MoCo has had this rule for months.

We played at that tournament. There were all parents on the sidelines. No 1 parent BS

We also played at this tournament and this poster is right. There was no "one parent per player" restriction. Most of the games I attended had 60 - 70 people on the sidelines.

teams playing at Whittier received the message

VA is allowing 1 spectactor per player, maximum. Even if that goes over the 25 per field.

But how is that consisent with the order? Is there some exception for younger players that we are just not seeing?

Ok, but since the tournament was before the order went into effect, whatever internal rule it may have had doesn't seem important.

I thought it 25 spectators per field?

For teams with rosters > 12, which would seem like most teams that play 11 v 11, I really don't know what they expect, though. A lottery to determine which players don't get to have a parent attend the game?!?

Given how far apart in time our games are, I would happily trade carpooling with another family on our team and sit one game of the day out. Of course, that would require someone willing to carpool.

Re. the OP - I think the one parent per player thing is due to the just mandated restrictions of having no more than 25 people gathered even at outdoor events. So for an 11 v. 11 travel soccer game (with subs on the roster) that would translate to 1 parent per player for both teams

So then is the "gathering" by side of the field, rather than entire field? Because otherwise that would result in more than 25, if all 11 players plus subs had a parent there for both teams.

DD's team is/were supposed to play in a tournament next weekend. Our club forwarded feedback from the tournament organizers that they were still awaiting clarification from VA but that they "hoped" it might be possible to allow one parent per player to be in attendance (with up to 12 players on each team). For teams with rosters > 12, which would seem like most teams that play 11 v 11, I really don't know what they expect, though. A lottery to determine which players don't get to have a parent attend the game?!? We were also told that there might be no spectators at all, just the players, coaches and referees. That would obviously really suck.

My husband is a team manger for our travel soccer team and was informed by the Fairfax Health Department that players could have one parent per player, despite the new order. I do not want him to send this information out to the team yet, because I see nothing in the executive order itself that says that. Is this an actual rule written down someplace?
