Subject: Part time or drop in daycare for 12 month old in NW?
No reputable place bothers with part-time or drop-in since they can fill the slot reliably with a full-timer.

There is very little part-time care in that part of the city. There's a ton of demand for full-time slots, so most places don't bother with part-time. Hire a sitter.

Even with Covid infant spots are always at a premium. Your best bet would be to find a babysitter who can come for a couple of hours to your house.

I spent months trying to find something like this back in 2018. It’s very hard. Your best bet is an in-home center. Look on the OSSE site and start calling. It’s probably more limited than usual because of Covid.
What I wound up doing is eventually was getting into a nanny share where we could be part-time. That took a while too because most people in shares want to maximally share costs. But I did find something eventually.

Our center used to do drop in care but are no longer doing this as part of the COVID precautions. I would be really surprised if others were. They are also not allowing for part time care because they had to cut the class sizes so need to prioritize full time tuition.

I have never heard of an arrangement like this. Most places in NW DC have long wait lists, so openings for a student who only wants to come sometime seems unlikely. Perhaps splitting with another student? But again, never heard of this happening in practice.

Looking into part time or drop in daycare starting in January for my son that would be turning 12 months in January. Looking for 2-3 days of childcare. I've reached out to Early Steps Bilingual, huckleberry cheesecake, and Kids Corner (5 min walking distance from our place). Any others out there that I'm missing? Alternatively, any first hand experience with these three?
