You expect parents to call you Ms. Lastname? We are all adults. Parents and teachers should be on a first-name basis u less kids are present. So, in an email it should be addressing by first name.

The owner of the name must be called by that name if he or she desires it.

Even young children learn names very easily if they are taught to say it. My kids had elementary school teachers with complicated names and after many tries, they managed to pronounce them perfectly.

In the post where the parent was unhappy at the teacher's choice of name, I think a compromise could be reached if the teacher said Larlo and added the first initial of the last name, instead of A, B or C.

Former teacher, here. This never bothered me. I call troll. Parents bothered me when they said I could “ just do x”, as if I endless time to be a concierge to their child. Parents bothered me when they got angry that I only checked email 3x a day. Parents bothered me when they got angry over an S (satisfactory). This literally never registered. No way this person is a teacher.

If you have a long and complicated last name and you're picky about having people say it constantly then maybe you shouldn't have chosen to work with children all day.

Reasonable. We should call people what they want to be called, whether they are a student with a common name or a teacher with an uncommon one.

I am a teacher. I have a long last name and I get it’s unique. However, my name is not Mrs. G. You should spell my entire name in emails and not have your children address me as a letter of an alphabet. I find it very rude. I have no problem with you saying it wrong and I nicely correctly you multiple times. However, you can not just give up. Thank you.
