Problem is how they cluster in those spaces. Basketball gym may be huge, but those 10 players on the court aren't safe, nor their coaches and teammates on the sidelines. In some ways swim now feels safer with news out that perhaps humidity lowers the likelihood of transmission in addition to all the social distancing measures that USA Swimming has put in place, but my son is expecting to hear that his season is over.
