In a class with another Larlo?

Is your opinion of children really that low?

Hahaha Jaxxonn?

Just call him full first and last name. You could try to explain that there are two Jacksons in the class, but that would probably be like talking to a brick wall. No need to waste the effort.

I'd tell the parent that just using Larlo in class isn't an option, since there is another child with that name, then ask if they have another preference. Larlo Lastname? Larlo Middlename? A nickname like Larly?

It sounds like you’re dealing with quality parents right there.

Just call him Larlo. That's not a big deal one way or the other. It won't fix any problems but it won't cause them either.

Just call him by his last name only, like the principal in Breakfast Club.

How tempted are you to write back a reply along the lines of, “If you didn’t want your snowflake to be called Larlo A, you should have given him a less basic name?”

The kicker is that I’ve been emailing mom and dad for eight weeks about missing work and Larlo A only attending class for 2-3 min before turning his camera off and not answering when I call him or send a message in chat. Mom didn’t address the academic issues, just that she’s sick of me calling him Larlo A and wants me to call him Larlo period.

My hope is that once I drop the A, he’ll start doing his work.

In your emails to them you’re calling him “Larlo A”? Or she wants you to stop calling him that in class?

No, I call him that in class. I guess she hears me calling him when I try to engage him in the lesson. Good to know someone is on the other side of the screen. It’s just a black box because his camera is off.
