I'm in the same boat OP. Our kiddies are the same age we bought the Chico sit and stand stroller. For times when he gets tired he'll be able to stand or sit behind his sister's car seat.

But...it is bulky and heavy.

This is PP. i definitely recommend encouraging your older one to walk so he can build stamina. Mine is now 5 and can ride his bike 10 miles and hike 5 but we had to build up to that over the past year since the baby arrived.

We have the same age gap. We have a Thule Urban glide single (which is big but amazing) and a buddy board but the older one hasn’t ever used it. He either walks or rides his bike for longer stints.

I would not invest in a double at that age unless it was one that could be reconfigured into a single in a few months. I would get a single with a riding board. We liked our UppaBaby Cruz (single stroller) with a riding board.

Our kids were much closer in age to yours -- our oldest was 2 years, 4 months old when the baby was born -- and a double was still a waste of money for us.

We have a Valco snap duo, and it works well for our two- though there is only a 2yr age difference. Most of the others were too short for our older child.

I agree about looking for a rider board, though.

I'm the 9:17 PP and forgot to add that the BOB allows kids to sit fairly upright, which was something we were also looking for.

We also had an older kid at the top end of the height/weight percentile range, and ended up going with the BOB after an inline tandem became too difficult to manage. We're pretty happy with it performance-wise, but it's pretty bulky and a pain to fold. That said, our kids are only 22 mos. apart, and with a larger age gap I may have tried to go directly to a ride-on board. Good luck!

I wouldn’t get a side by side double for that age gap. Your older kid isn’t going to want to sit in a stroller soon. Do you have the option of adding a rolling board to your existing stroller?

Yeah, I think this ship has sailed for you. A double stroller won't be worth the purchase. Double strollers are a PIA on busy city sidewalks and getting into/out of small city shops. With the pandemic, there is no where to go anyhow. Plus, the 4.5 yr old isn't going to want to sit in the stroller for longer than it takes to gobble a snack- they need the physical activity of walking/running too just like you do.

City Select. Put the heavier kid closer to you, and have the infant facing you in the front of the stroller.

I loved my double BOB and I did find it easy to maneuver.

Honestly side by side, or any double, and easy maneuvering is tough. If an option, I highly recommend baby wearing and a stroller.

Hi! I'm looking for input on a double stroller recommendation.

I have a newborn and a tall 4.5 year old (43 pounds). I am looking for a double stroller that can handle both the baby and the taller/heavier toddler. I plan to use the stroller for extensive walking both on trails and in the city. We tried an inline double but the weight of the 4.5 year old made it almost tip over and DC was too tall for the sunshade and foot portion.

We are thinking of a side by side. We've tried the Thule but the seats do not sit up enough.

Anyone have any input on another option? Doesn't need to be a jogging stroller but it does need to maneuver relatively easy. Any thoughts on City Jogger, Joovy, BOB, etc.? Anyone have the same difference in size/height children and have a stroller solution?
