I hate how so much of the burden of this is on kids. Why can't kids at least have practices at 25% capacity like the bars can?
I also read on Twitter that although this order does not apply to any private facilities or the private schools which are either playing or holding athletic practices, the county is considering whether further action targeting private athletics is also necessary.
Although my kids will be disappointed, I understand why the County Exec. feels the need to take action. There aren't any good choice. I do question, however, prohibiting outdoor activities on county field, while not addressing indoor. For instance, my daughter's soccer team had agreed that they won't play indoor soccer or futsal this winter to avoid additional indoor risk. They were going to try to continue to practice outdoors, and normally practice on county fields. So, with that option off the table, doesn't that push teams indoors, which is the opposite of what should be happening?
Soccer has been the saving grace for my kids, but we will have to figure out another way to adjust during the winter.
