As a person who does not like unwanted hugs ever, even during non-Covid times, I'm 100% with OP on this one. The woman shouldn't have hugged you. It's amazing to me that people STILL are doing this even with Covid. It's not that hard to check in with people before touching them.

I understand the fear. I am on Chemo with several other comorbitites. And while an individual action is only dangerous if the other person is infectious, we have NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT. THEY HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT.

We had a super spreader event where everyone was tested prior to attending right here in DC.

To the people that say NBD. You ar covidiots. You may be willing to take the risk, but maybe I am not.

As an example of the risks, lets say there were 10 people at the event that you had close interactions with...the odds of one of them having a infectious COVID 19 person is about 0.15%. Since you had 10 interactions, there is a 1.4% chance of one of them being infected.

1.4% chance of getting COVID is not a big deal if you are healthy: the risk of a bad case is about 0.15% from the interaction set -- for an average person my age (mid 50's). For me, though that one set of interactions produces about a 1% chance of a bad case and about a 0.2% chance of death.

Risk is personal.

Sunday I attended a socially distanced fund-raising event with many people that I haven't seen in person for some time. One woman hugged me, without asking! She was wearing a mask, but I don't want to be hugged. I have an auto-immune disease and almost did not attend this event. I think I'm going back to hiding in my basement...
