That's simply not true. I've rented more than a dozen houses in the outer banks and have never stayed in a home like you describe.

Please share links. I’d love to find a nice rental that’s close to the beach.

This is true with most houses, but we've rented some newer houses that have updated furniture. In the end, they're all "nice enough." We spend most of our time on the deck or at the beach, that the family room set is wicker from the late 90s isn't a big deal and won't ruin our vacation.

I am the complete opposite. I live in a nicely decorated house, and I want that or nicer on my vacation. I would never stay in a ratty, run down motel. I Burmese this as the same thing. I don’t want to spend a lot of money for a house and then get grossed out every time I want to sit down. I have th Rama problem in rehoboth. No one updates. The nice places are $15k a week, but they are almost impossible to get.

They’ll renovate after the next hurricane.

Because renters trash it.

+!1. Someone even punched a hole through the back of one of our bedroom doors.

Some places do. But if the demand is there why spend the money? People don’t change unless there is a need to change.

Corolla Classic Vacations or Twiddy.

Why would someone recommend a specific house? That would most likely make it more difficult for them to rent in the future.

I’ve rented in Corolla and Duck from nearly all the companies in the area, and honestly, I’ve never had an experience that differentiated one company from another. They’ve all provided the necessary services and been responsive to any issues encountered. I’m sure you’ll get some posters that will relate their horrible experience with one company or another, but I’d take them with a grain of salt.

As for specific houses, that’s way too specific to your size needs and budget. I will say that in the off-season, we much prefer to be on the sound side enjoying the sunsets and calm waters since we aren’t really going to the beach much. We also like Corolla Light in the off-season because it has an indoor pool and fitness center. Rent bikes and kayaks and enjoy the slower pace of the off-season (though I’m sure it will be busier this year).

Looking for recommendations of vacation rental companies and also specific houses. Considering a winter rental. Most interested in Corolla or maybe Duck.
