That's pretty standard what they offered. I live in the midwest. some years ago I sold an old car--not totaled but too many repairs needed--to a guy who was paying $150 then scrapping them out. A few years later I called him about another vehicle and he said he wasn't paying for them anymore because prices bottomed out. If he can find a buddy who can help haul it to the junkyard my guess is they'd pay him maybe $200 but otherwise they just take the vehicle and you're done with it.

How much are the tow and storage charges? That sounds like a decent deal.

Otherwise, have him look on the local Craigslist for “we buy junk cars” ads, but unless the car is a specialty vehicle or could be repaired back to roadworthy condition, don’t expect much at all.
