I don't care about guns but I do care about someone's driving record if they are going to do carpool to school or after-school activities with my kids. I would be far more likely to ask for a copy of the parents' driving record.

I grew up in Penna and Nevada. Everyone had guns. OP, You would have been the talk of the neighborhood as the local crazy lady.

Yes, my kids can play there and no I would not ask!

You would have no idea we have a gun in the house, just saying.

yes my kid goes to houses where are are guns, They are locked away and we have also talked about gun safety.
I own a gun and you would probably never think to ask me as I am a Biden supporting Gay Liberal. It is in a safe that requires a code.

This. My spouse has a work-issued gun (securely stored) and we don’t talk about it. Most people don’t realize she has a gun for her job. If asked, I would tell very close friends whom we trust, but not many more.

Yes and no. I grew up in an area where everyone had guns but people were responsible. Kids didn't get into their parents guns because it was not a big deal to see a gun.

Anyone who isn't responsible with guns and has kids around is likely going to lie about having guns anyways.

If securely locked, of course. Gee whiz, guns don't radiate cooties.

I wouldn't expect parents to disclose, any more than I would expect them to relay the full details of their burglar alarm system.

Yes, and yes. We had a friend from Texas who would not allow any visitors to her top level. We assume they had a gun safe. She showed us pictures of her son’s room, so it wasn’t privacy concerns.

No we would not let DC go over there. But we are in DC where it’s basically impossible to privately own a gun.

I’m assuming you are in VA. DH is from NOVA. MIL told me that with any new family requesting a play date when her kids were young, she would ask them if they had any guns in the house and if so, politely decline.

Yes, and yes. My kid's best friend has a parent in law enforcement. He is open both about the fact that he owns a gun and how he keeps it securely locked up at home.

If you knew your kids friends parents have guns but they are locked up in safes, would you let your kids play at their house? Would you expect the parents to disclose they have guns to you before a playdate?
