PP here. One was Missouri (Mizzou). And based on DC’s GPA and ACT, could’ve paid in-state tuition.

NP here. DS also received a mailer like this (with a merit chart) from Alabama.

Websites often will tell you the amount of their scholarships but will not tell you how many students receive it.

You can find that information on the Common Data Set that nearly all schools make available on their website. One of the line items under Financial Aid on the Common Data Set is the number of students receiving non-need based aid and excluding athletic scholarships. Another line is the average amount of such non-need based aid.

Each school determines their own criteria. You can often find some merit scholarship info on their websites. Some schools have specific SAT scores or GPA ranges listed; others have more vague information.

If your child received a Merit Scholarship, how? Is it by school? How does the school (or whomever) determine if and how much? Is it just by SAT? What SAT score qualifies? TIA.
