One of the PPs here, and I'd actually sort of disagree with the bolded. There is as much fake stuff written about the Separatists/other colonists whom we now call Pilgrims as of the American Indians. We just don't consider it problematic that we misrepresent them regularly (as another PP mentioned, most of what you learned in elementary school about Thanksgiving was fake). To really get at their motives and stuff, you have to get into Puritan theology, which has been grossly misrepresented in American culture since Nathaniel the era of Nathaniel Hawthorne.

I'm NOT saying it's as bad as what literature has done to the American Indians, but the everyone-in-tall-black-hats who came here for individual self-expression in religion narrative isn't doing readers any favors either, because it's just not true.

These articles are a little bit out of date, but here are some recommended Thanksgiving titles from Native American authors. Both sites also have loads of other book recommendations if you just want good Native American kids' lit (or want to know how to tell good from bad Native American kids' lit.)

OP, this is more than you need but I have heard good things about this unit from Match Fishtank. You might need to create a log in to access everything, IDK, but there is a book list you could look at.

Maybe Squanto's Journey? It's by Joseph Bruchac, who is indigenous but not Wampanoag. He cites his Wampanoag sources in the back.

Also for indigenous peoples, while We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga isn't exactly about the origins of Thanksgiving, it does explain how the Cherokee interwove gratitude throughout their year.
