If you are good in negotiations then you can get much lower offer in person once you are done with the online offers. That;s the way you get the lowest deals and not everyone has the skills to do that. This price are lower than the True car prices and happens all the time.

Agree. This used to be good advice. But just like the idea you get a deal with all cash, it’s no longer useful.

After selecting specs for my car that I was going to have built, I sent my list to multiple dealers to get options. The best price was from a dealership in Catonsville, MD. I live in Alexandria, VA. The dealer delivered the car to me. I was not in a rush so, I did not select options from the lot. Good luck!

You're must be a salesman.

For a Forester, it makes senses. The MSRP of a Forester is $25k. The average US car sales price was $36k this year. You think dealers are going to fight over a $25k sale?

Went at the end of the month at the end of the quarter and got a steal. I tried offering it to another dealer and they said it was too good of a deal.

Do not ever go to a dealer before you settle on price. Above is just crazy. it will not work. Email a few deals as one of the PPs suggested above. Knowing what you want is extremely important.

Email all the dealers with exactly what you want or if they have the model in stock and ask for their best price. Then figure out either the best price or the ones who give you a good price, email back and ask for less.

Figure out the price you want to pay (this is very easy now with some research, google is your friend) and then email each of these dealers and ask if they can meet your price. Hopefully one or two will come through. Make sure the dealer has the exact car you want on the lot to get the best price.

find the exact car that you want and request offers on the Subaru website. Most will try to call, just tell them you want to do it via e-mail. Most won't like it, the ones that do, respond with the best offer that you have and ask if they can beat it. Keep in mind, there is only so low that they'll go- you aren't getting a half priced car. We went this route to get our local dealer to match a farther out dealer and it worked.

I've heard I can basically haggle for a new car via the internet. We have 4 or 5 Subaru dealers within driving distance, and we want a 2020 Forester. How do I get them to big against each other?
