This just goes to show that everyone in different. I am in a situation where I am getting the Good morning text. I could care less. I feel it is a hollow gesture, and it rarely leads to any good communication. But, it seems to be his love language so I will send one first a couple times a week. It is dumb, but seems important to him since he tallies who sends it first more often.

After 1-2 dates, they should be texting a couple times a week just to say hello or arrange a new date. You can text and if s/he is slow to respond then they aren't into texting. You can only tell if they aren't interested if you actually ask them on another date.

Yep! When you are into somebody, you look forward to ending your shift and contact that person. 24 hours!

I actually don't like texting, but if early on a guy isn't texting or calling frequently I take it a sign he's not interested.

If he tells me he doesn't use his phone much, I take it he's probably in a relationship and cheating.

Early in our relationship my BF warned me that he doesn’t live on his phone and during most of his time at work it just stays in his back pack. So when I send him a message I don’t expect that he will get back to me quickly and I’m fine with it.

Texting should only be used for quick notes, e.g. running late, be there in 15 minutes stuff. Real men pick up the phone.

Seriously. If you really like someone, you prioritise them.

After 1 or 2 dates? You barely know each other. The only reason to text is to ask them to go on another date, and it can easily take a day or two. They have work, maybe meeting up with friends and can’t respond, need to check their schedule, etc.

I’d be pretty upset if someone expected an immediate response after one date. I’m not into being at someone’s beck and call.

Texting back only takes literally a few seconds. I’m sure people can manage that if they actually like someone.

At that stage of dating you really should only be texting to ask for the next date.

If this is a guy you are speaking about, keep in mind that many guys have been burned before by texting too much and turning the woman off. So many then go to the other extreme by not contacting enough. It's a delicate balance because each woman you meet expects a different level of communication. So many err on the side of caution at least initially and don't text much.

When in the beginning of dating someone (first 1-2 dates), how long is too long for them to return a text? Where you would no longer take them seriously?
