Every time a teen walks by me on Halloween I call out, do you want candy.

It's sad that people shame teens about Trick or Treating.

We don't let them enjoy the simple things in life because we are so afraid of them being "immature"... it's pathetic.

+1 I don’t understand this mentality.

+2. If a kid is dressed up, they will get candy from me.

Our teens are not trick or treating this year. They've had lots of years of trick or treating and are letting the little ones have it this year due to the pandemic. Doing scary movies instead.

13 yo - no. She and her friends feel like they are too old for it. I'm not going to argue.

As long as the teens are in a costume, go for it. If you’re too cool for a costume, you’re also too cool to be asking for candy.

Better a teen than the weird parents trick-or-treating on behalf of babies in strollers.

My now 14 year old isn’t going because our town isn’t allowing it, but he was starting to get stink eye the past couple years and felt weird. He is really tall (over 6 foot) but always dressed up in full costume. Remember that tall goblins and ghouls might actually just be tall kids!

My last Halloween was 14. Go for it, have fun!

I don’t mind giving teens candy on Halloween at all. But a teen out solo with their parent? I’d feel bad for the kid potentially encountering groups of friends together.

A 14 year old trick or treating with mom? (Or dad?) I don’t know, OP.

My DD is almost 14 and has suddenly decided she wants one last hurrah. She wouldn’t go with friends - I’d go with her and keep her company. Anyone else’s teen planning to go?
