The algorithm "People you may know" is not based on viewable data analytics, but connections between mutual friends. There is a hide recommendations feature as well.

They dated for about 3 years and were even engaged. But something happened and they broke off the engagement and eventually broke up. (she refuses to tell me what caused this or the break up)
I had suggested she gets help but she's brushed it off and said that it's normal for people to, be interested in what their exes are doing.
