It’s been a minute since I bought a dog, but I believe you had to provide proof of the spay/neuter and if you didn’t, you would get hit with an invoice for the breeding rights (in my case it was $10k).

Seriously though, why would you want to deal with a dog in heat unless you were trying to set up a breeding operation? And if you want to be a breeder, I would think you should be a bit more intentional about how you select your first dam vs. “Hmmmm, maybe I should breed this super cute puppy o have!”

Yes, definitely do it. I too am surprised your breeder didn't have this in the contract.

Yes, get your dog fixed. There's an argument to be made for waiting until after her first heat cycle to do it, but you should discuss timing with your vet.
