Charter schools were not created to address issues parents had with snow days or school closures. Acting like if they're closed on the same days as DCPS schools they're not serving their purpose is nonsensical. And I'm not even a charter supporter.

It's on us parents, though, to keep up the pressure and momentum and remind everyone at our charters that this is NOT an ok system for the long haul.

Nope - the DCPS plan is a disaster and my child has actually been learning during DL. No "wait and see" - the school went headfirst into DL and is doing it pretty well, with lots of room for communication and adjustments.

Yes. DCPS is at least trying to offer something that some people would like to participate in. Our charter clearly never had any plan and is offering nothing until an unknown date. At least LAMB tried, however ham-fisted their approach.

Yes. Also at a desirable charter with a long waitlist and they sent out an email a few weeks ago saying they were about to begin planning for a possible return in February. "Begin planning" - we have been out of school for 7 months. There should be some plan, something at this point. I'm skeptical of DCPS' plan, but I do think it's a creative way to address some of the most urgent problems. Our school has always followed DCPS' lead and it now feels like we are being left behind.

I really think DC schools runs the risk of finding itself under the direction of the feds. The school system--public and charter--alike are failing miserably under COVID. I could see Biden being elected and appointing a Secretary of Education who implements emergency rules to address the schools situation. A

I'm really disappointed that our charter isn't doing more to find innovative solutions to bring kids back - ever. At this rate, I wonder if the charter will just be online post-pandemic, too. the whole school year seems like a joke. Kids losing enthusiasm for learning, doing more on our own.

LAMB had a plan. They worked on for a long time. In the end, it didn't matter. The teachers wouldnt go back to work, and there was nothing LAMB could do to convince them otherwise.

DCPS plan sounds terrible. I'm glad for the messaging, that kids are falling behind and are in need of getting back to school in person. The reminder of what we are losing is helpful; the strange plan they have made actually makes it worse because hybrid could possibly have worked and this will just make it look even more impossible to reopen.

We are right here with you. A great charter but will continue to do DL in the name of safety. No attempt to have any classes or in-person events in open in small groups or anything like that.

Our school's plan seems to be stay home for the rest of the year. This is a charter with a very long wait list but no interest in working to get kids back in person. DCPS is at least trying.
