We switched from Shady to Dominion and we are enrolled in their Igenomix study. In every way from the first phone call to our results from our first IVf cycle we are optimistic about our chances of success.

Another vote for Dr. DiMattina at Dominion. He recognized that IVF was not a good option for me. My kids are now 15 and 13.

SG works as a team and Widra is one of the bigwigs there, so it is unlikely you will get a true second opinion. I agree with the PPs to try another clinic.

Hi I wrote above - I was more focused on implantation and not the protocol so the CCRM wasn't relevant to your situation.

I have been told the type of protocol doesn't affect whether you get a genetically normal embryo in the end. You just need protocols that produce a decent amount of eggs each time, and then it's a numbers game, assuming there is no issue with sperm or something like that.

But others may hear different things regarding that.

I’ve been generally happy with Shady Grove, and I really have enjoyed the convenience (and nurses). But you’re right, if I’m not going to get a legitimate second opinion seeing another SG doctor, then I will definitely do a consult with another clinic. I’ve heard good things about Dominion...I will definitely take a look and thanks so much for the recommendation. I’ve been on estrogen priming protocol, doing the max dose of follistim and menapur. And wondering if there is an alternative to that.

They used to all confer with each other, so no one would challenge another doctor there.

If you do a consult at Cornell or CCRM then tell Widra I bet he would listen. A while ago he did listen when I asked for changes based on what I'd read about the CCRM protocols. I was firm.

Hi, we are currently with Dr. Widra at Shady Grove. We wanted to get a second opinion about an upcoming IvF cycle. I’m 40 and have been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. We already had 4 cycles with Dr. Widra, but our protocol hasn’t really changed much. We will see any SG doctor in the DMV area. Which begs the question, do all SG physicians follow very similar protocols or do some think “outside the box.”
