Yep, neighbor college junior in Copenhagen now. Mom just flew over as student contracted covid. Loved the program. It's not the same as when students are allowed to travel. She was not as that was part of the condition from her IVY League University.

Kicker, daughter in hospital, costs are huge. And they took the extra insurance provided by the study abroad program, null and void for covid.

Better check your insurance and what it covers overseas. This is a truly bad idea.

Denmark!! My son studied there last year and travelled to Stockholm. He definitely felt that Copenhagen was the more beautiful and accessible city. Another recommendation is for your daughter to request to live in one of the LLC (living-Learning communities). They have the best housing that is also the closest to where the classes are held.

OP this is not the place to find those statistics. You need to look at news sources and NYTimes graphs.

Personally I think Denmark is quieter and cleaner then Sweden (I'm from the UK, been to both, multiple times).

Also I like Denmark better.

But now they have a level three warning from the CDC (avoid non essential travel)

Maybe show those to your daughter. I know what she wants...but she may be engaging in magical thinking.

Copenhagen, as I stated on the last thread. Especially since you said she would not be able to travel much. A much livelier nightlife and social scene for college students, but especially for foreign students. Just more diversity in Copenhagen. I love Stockholm but I think it can be very lonely for students studying abroad. People do not socialize outside of their family unit and existing friend group very much. A lovely place to visit but a very tough place to live temporarily, especially as a student.

Trying to predict the situation in spring is like looking into a crystal ball. Western Europe looked pretty good toward the end of summer, but look at the situation now. I would say that Sweden is more isolated, which can be a good thing in these COVID times.

The program in Copenhagen is well established and well run. Also it is easier to tour other cities from Copenhagen since it is further south and closer to other points of interest. My DD applied to that program. Word to the wise - get your application in ASAP. They process by rolling admissions. She was initially turned down even though she has a strong resume because it was already full. They did offer Sweden, but she was not interested in their course offerings and ended up not doing study abroad. That turned out to be a good move last spring.

I apologize for posting a second time but am hopeful that some of you will have better insights. I am ONLY concerned about what people know about these two locations in terms of Covid and safety. My daughter's application is due November 1st and she has to pick one of the programs. And, yes, she is going. She is 20 years old and has decided. But, I think I could sway her one way or the other as she likes both programs. Thoughts? Insights?
