Baby gear is a racket -- you use a lot of this stuff for a relatively short period of time. Good condition used almost everything is fine.

No shame. I would actually flip it around and say it's almost shameful to buy a stroller new!

This. We just saved half the price by buying a used City Select.

How much did you pay for a used City Select? Brand new they're on sale right now for $269 plus 20% off.

Not only is it okay, I highly recommend it. A lot of people have multiple strollers and will have one that gets very lightly used. Our travel stroller was a hand-me-down and it's nicer than the stroller we got full price off our registry because our friends only used it a couple times.

Also, if you get a stroller used, you can use the savings to buy stroller accessories you might otherwise consider a luxury. Like a bassinet option for a newborn or attachments for groceries or a rider board for a toddler.

Most of my baby’s things are hand-me-downs (friends and family), even the crib mattress and the changing pad. I bought a second hand Bjorn bouncer and sold it 8 months later so it cost me only $15. Definitely buy a used stroller rather than a new one. Also, check your local buy nothing group - you might be able to get something for free.

Totally buy used. I bought two used strollers because I needed them for different things. City Mini with great sunshade first dog walks. But a Graco “ normal” strolled with a huge basket underneath for shopping or running errands. I actually sold the city mini for the same price I paid for it 3.5 years later.

No shame at all. All the gear is expensive. If you can get a used stroller that is in good shape, why not?

Is there any shame in buying a used stroller? I know a lot of sites online say there are certain things you should spring for new, but as long as it’s in good condition, can be cleaned (or already is clean and we clean some more), is it a big deal? I generally like things new but I also know in a few years my husband and I will ALSO be trying to sell our used items locally and I don’t see a major issue with it as long as it’s not obviously gross, trashed, a recalled model, or from a smoking home. Thoughts?
