Eight to nine hour work day, overtime beyond nine hours a day and forty hours a week. Nanny has a separate apartment in our converted garage with her own kitchen and washer/dryer. We pay her health insurance, two weeks paid vacation the first year and five PTO days. She started at minimum wage ($15 in our state) but got a sizable increase after her first year and a bonus.

Our child was a newborn when she started with us so I have no clue what a nanny for a six year old would look like. I’m guessing the nanny will be doing DL? In that case, there is no way you’ll get away with minimum wage.

How much do you pay your live in nanny? What does a day on the job look like? I’m hiring my first nanny for my 6 year old and don’t know what’s reasonable to pay or to request in terms of duties.
