Agree with Rec soccer. I have some girls on my team that are new tor he sport (girls U13) and they are doing fine. Ask the club to place her with a coach who is welcoming to new players.

I wouldn't put a 14 yo new into softball. It's a difficult sport that by then even rec girls are throwing the windmill. It's a much harder sport to play than like soccer. It requires more skills and tremendous athleticism.

12U is about the oldest I would put a new player into softball.

Rec. soccer. Give it a try. Other sports to consider are lacrosse and field hockey. All provide lots of exercise, team play, etc.

Rec soccer is not too competitive at all, but there are fewer options at that age because so many peel off to travel.

Let her give it a shot!

rec soccer is not super competitive. If she is willing to train a little extra, she will catch up quickly.

my dd is not terribly athletic, but she likes sports. she was doing rec basketball, which she liked. she's tried golf, and didn't like it. she wants to try soccer and I was told that even the rec teams are super competitive and that she missed the boat by not starting earlier. she just wants to learn to play soccer, not go pro. if rec leagues are out, what are other options?
