The HSPT requires the tester to work faster, though the content is easier. The SSAT has slightly harder content but more time per question. A bright kid with speed issues will do better on the SSAT.

We used Chevy Chase Prep. Son had struggled with standardized tests in the past. We bought the books, but he was having trouble studying on his own, due in part to ADHD. Chevy Chase Prep was great working with him and shoring up some of his weaknesses in preparation for HSPT (and SSAT).

Has anyone ever used either Huntington or Chevy Chase Prep? Looking for recommendations. Thank you in advance.

The HSPT math is much easier than the SSAT and definitely a ton easier than the ISEE (which is the hardest of the 2 for math).

It's easy problems like "which fraction is larger" vs. some tricky mental problem. Most kids should be able to take it without any prep and do very well.

We just used a book to study from. The HSPT was not that hard compared to the SSAT. DC was able to get a 99% on the HSPT but only 85% on SSAT. We did tutoring for the SSAT and it helped with the HSPT. Honestly, the catholic schools prepare you for the HSPT. My DC practiced a lot of the grammar in her English class and the math is not that hard, I’m not even sure algebra was on it. The reading comprehension is comparable to any standardized test.

There are tons of prior threads this. I suggest you research the search bar first.

Interested in recommendations for HSPT test prep tutoring for my 8th grade daughter? Has anyone used Huntington Learning Center or Chevy Chase Prep? Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
