I used misoprostol for a missed miscarriage at 10/11 weeks. I used the pills vaginally first and didn’t cramp or bleed enough. I repeated the following week and they worked. I would do it again that way because I was very worried about scarring from a D&C and I wanted to try again. The cramping got bad for a couple hours but I never took anything more than Advil. I had a baby before the missed miscarriage so I’ve been through childbirth before and I’d compare the cramping to contractions but I was able to handle it. I took it around 4pm and was ok the next morning. I would recommend trying it over a D&C. I started trying again for another baby a few months ago and haven’t gotten pregnant again yet but not sure why.
Scarring from. D&C is exceedingly rare.
My OB told me there is a slight risk. So not saying scarring will happen but there is some risk and I chose to avoid that risk. My OB also gave me the option of just waiting for my body to miscarry but I chose to schedule it using misoprostol.
