If people don't want to work with children, they shouldn't have gotten a job with DC public schools. I'm all on board with central office staff working in classrooms. Up to and including the chancellor.

Oh good, I'm sure an angry Central Office staffer who is being forced to be in a room with my child every day will provide just the sort of caring, consistent environment she needs after seven months of shifting plans and schedules. I'm sure that will help resolve the severe school anxiety she has started displaying, as well as the fear of all people who are not members of our immediate family.

DC hasn’t laid off government workers. My guess is government people who can’t do their regular job due to Covid. Think DPR, library, school traffic people, etc

And who supervises the CARE staff? Are principals now stuck with overseeing this hastily-hired day care staff, while still overseeing all the regular teachers?

Never a good idea to assume anything with DCPS. They need to give real answers and not talk in vague generalizations. I’m not sure they have many answers to give at this point which makes me wonder about their planning capabilities

I don't know exactly, but I have a feeling they will not be paid very well...

And basically the same hypocritical response will be used from union teachers that was used about day care workers, "well, if only they had union representation!" without responding to the fact that day cares have not been major contributors to spread and day care workers haven't been dying in droves...

Do we have any idea who these non-teachers are? Are they new hires? What are their qualifications? How can I consider applying for a CARES slot when I have no idea who will be with my child? Will it be someone who already works at my kid’s school? DCPS - we need some answers!
