When I was in law school, a guy lived in a van.

We are in big tech; rent in the city but it just keeps climbing.

Considering selling our furniture and investing in an equipped van we could move from place to place & travel.

I know many have done this. Advice?

Actually rents in SF are down 20% (2BR)- 31% (studio) since COVID.
If you can work remotely, just move to a lower cost area like everyone else is doing.
There are books/blogs that advise on this or talk to the “many” you know. I don’t know anyone personally who has done this.

This reminds me of a couple I know who have decided to sell their house and live in a skoolie, with their two young kids. Absolutely horrible idea.

I think there a lots of blogs, etc. that could help you with this.

I know that some that have adopted the van life have gotten a fair bit of pushback from locals during COVID.

You'd need to ask Matt Foley. He's a motivational speaker.

What would be your official address? For your bank? Elections? Driver's license? Passport? Proving residency when enrolling your kid in public school?

And what about your physical safety?
I would want 4 solid walls between me and the outside world, OP. Not a vehicle. Get out into the world and accept that the Bay area isn't all these is!

If you know many people who have done this, why aren't you asking them?
