I took it until the end of my first trimester. There is some thought that it can help prevent miscarriage. FWIW, in that pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes (tested positive about eight weeks after stopping), but in my second pregnancy where I did not start off on metformin, I did not.

I was instructed to take it until the end of my first trimester, which I did. No issues, in fact I miss it- TMI but I did not suffer from the typical pregnancy constipation until I stopped taking it!

Wow. Such different experiences and opinions. For such a common women’s disorder, it bothers me so much that we have such superficial understanding of PCOS.

Stopped as per the endocrinologist I had to see.

I took it for PCOS, stopped first trimester, and resumed during second trimester for gestational diabetes.

My doctor told me it could hurt the baby if I took it during pregnancy.

Those of you who take Metformin due to PCOS, did you continue it after the positive pregnancy test or did you stop? My OB seems flexible and says it’s ok to take and didn’t give me a solid yes or no about it. Anyone here with some better information? Thanks.
