No screens except to FaceTime distant relatives until age 7. Then up to an hour per week.

My 3 year old watches some G movies like Frozen, The Jungle Book, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians. We follow her lead though since there is a lot of variation in G movies as far as scary goes. We started to watch the little mermaid, but she though Ursula was too scary, so we turned it off. I can't imagine watching anything PG until Elementary school or a little later.

10yr old and we also use Common Sense Media as a guide, and talk with other parents. Even if it's PG, things with large amounts of inappropriate language or sexual innuendo or drinking are no-go's for us. An occasional bit of language isn't a huge deal, but we're aware of it. First real movie wasn't until age 4 when Frozen came out.

My oldest is seven and we still don’t show movies we aren’t familiar with regardless of rating.

He is a wuss though - Nemo gave him nightmares for weeks.

I’ve always let my kid watch PG movies as long as they’re generally family friendly - stuff like Despicable Me, the new Sonic movie, and Free Willy. That said, he didn’t have the attention span for any movies until he was 4 and even then it was touch and go. PG-13 will be case by case when he gets a little older. There’s a big difference between Jurassic Park and The Dark Knight.

My kids are 10 and 12. They aren't allowed to watch R movies, but the PG-13 or Y-14 rating is tricky.

My 13 year old isn't allowed rated R yet.

I don't restrict my younger kids beyond that if DH or I are familiar with the movie and watching with them.

I'm talking about when you let your DC watch PG, PG-13-OP

I let my 3yo watch G movies. Her first movie was Peanuts when she was 3.5.

She is 8 now and I let her watch all PG movies. Only PG13 movie she has watched is Harry Potter.
She has seen Billy Elliott which I think is rated MAor R for language. I like the message in the movie though and she has seen the play so I am ok with that. She is not the type of kid to repeat bad language or use potty talk,. I would censor more on violence/sex than language, depending on how the language is used.

I think we occasionally put on the occasional G movie, but mostly just things like Fireman Sam, Paw Patrol, or Bob the Builder.

Other friends watched whatever they felt like watching and the kid(s) just wandered about and either watched or didn't.

So we have a 3 year old, who we have let watch educational TV and movies (like babyfirst.) I was wondering when to let her watch G, PG, PG-13. What are your guys movie limits?
