Minka is the brand my electrician recommended. I have a different one. Very happy with it.

My kid’s overhead is a fan with no light, so I’m thinking of replacing it with a flush mount light with fan and shade.

PS, eye candy, if you see this, I’m struggling with entryway furniture, especially shoe storage. I’ll post a thread but if you have ideas and the time, I’d be grateful if you post ideas in a new thread.

So true on the stinky years!

We did an ikea light that expands and contracts in to a sphere like the death star for yds. Ods room already had a great light fixture. It is flushmount milk glass school house style.

Oh hello. I like lighting. Shades of Light (lighting catalog based in Richmond) has a huge variety. You can sort by price, limit by finish, ets.

Lots of blogs have done flush mount round-ups, too. Just google "best flush mount" and hit the "images" option in google. Once you settle on a style, you can usually find something that works in the high, middle, and low price ranges. The "porthole" style flush mount might be a nice option...

I have 3 boys and honestly never once considered their light fixtures. Just go with what is appropriate for the general style of your house. They boys will grow, and don’t really care anyway generally. Or pick a ceiling fan for the stinky years.

I'd keep what is there or something simple. In a few years he'll be done with superheroes. Instead get him cool led lights or something fun.

If you have a young elementary-age boy, what type of flush mount do you have for his bedroom? It seems like fancy chandeliers are all the rage for little girls these days, but am feeling stumped on what to install in DS’s room. The room has a bit of a coastal vibe (navy and white) but the decor is more superhero than nautical. Any suggestions?
